PKjoists are built with proprietary-grade flanges and are available in a range of series, offering residential joist depths from 9-1/2" to 16" and commercial joist depths from 18" to 24". With options including 3 2x3 series (PKI 10, 20, 23) and 3 2x4 series (PKI 35Plus, 40, 50), PKjoists can accommodate all your I-joist requirements.
To protect against moisture-related end-checking and absorption, all PinkWood Ltd. I-joists are shipped with a pink moisture sealer. Below is a list of all available PKjoist series: PKI 10, 20, 23, 35Plus, 40, and 50.
SAFEjoists® - Your Fire Performance Solution
When you factory apply PinkWood’s Ltd. WEBSHIELD® panels to our quality PKjoists, you get SAFEjoists. This product was designed to provide significant fire protection to unfinished basements and crawlspaces. PinkWood’s Ltd. Patented Assembly has been evaluated and approved by the U.S. (IAPMO) and Canadian (CCMC) evaluation agencies and has demonstrated a time-to-failure in a fire equivalent to exposed 2 x 10 lumber joists. The assembly, available in depths up to 16”, meets the fire performance provisions of IRC Section R302.13 and Article 9.10.8.10.10. of the NBC, as well as CCMC’s directives published April 2020.
Proven Solution - SAFEjoist® system
At the end of April 2020, CCMC published new Evaluation Reports for those joist manufacturers, who sell joists in Canada. These Evaluation Reports now indicate whether a particular “protected joist” may be installed over unfinished basements.
PinkWood’s Ltd. Evaluation Report confirms that the joists protected by the patented WEBSHIELD® system have passed the prescribed fire test and that they are approved to be installed over unfinished basements.
Most of the other producers do not have such a fire rated joist, in which case their Evaluation Report recommends that their standard joists installed over unfinished basements be drywalled.
